Any suggestions? I'll be travelling there soon. How much (on average) does a manicure cost in Toronto?
It all depends where you go - you can pay anywhere from $8 - over $50 depending on how posh the place is.
Personally, there are two places I go to and they both charge $8 for a manicure and they do a good job - one is close to Bay/Wellesley and the other is at Victoria Park and Lawrence (East York).
There's tons of manicure places across the city, so you'll have a lot to choose from. How much (on average) does a manicure cost in Toronto?
Well, it varies depends on where you go.
In downtown Toronto, you can pay anywhere from 12-30.
-If you go to a well known spa, like for example elixr organic spa (http://www.elixirspa.ca/services.php) you will pay around 15 for a basic manicure- BASIC manicure.
-ANother place is http://www.10spot.ca/services.html and you can view that it ranges between 20-34.
-Any of the spas in the downtown location will be more expensive, however i have a TIP for you. Go to the nail spas owned by asian or oriental employees. They are usually the cheapest and they do the best work and are fast and reliable. You usually dont need to make an appointment and the manicures last a long time.
There are 2 places in particular that I recommend:
-One is in downtown toronto and is off bay and dundas. I cannot remember the name for the life of me, but they are on the north side of dundas on bay, right next to a convenience store. Its very cheap and they do a great job.
-The other is in midtown and near glencarin station. It is called Tammy's Spa. They are about 10 dollars and they do an incredible job. You can also get cheap waxing there- im talking cheap! And they do a GREAT job. 10 dollars for lip and eyebrows both. Glencarin station is about 15 minutes by subway from St.George Station and about 20 minutes from Union Station. You basically take the subway northbound on the yellow university line going to downsview and get off at glencarin. Make sure you get off at glencarin exit (not viewmount) and then walk toward marlee. Its about a 5 min walk and it is on marlee: here is the address: http://www.toronto.com/shopping/listing/鈥?/a>
Here is the toronto transit website as well to help you get around: www.ttc.ca
If you would like some more options, you can view some reviews here on some other options: http://ourfaves.com/find/toronto?q=nail%鈥?/a>
I hope this helps!

How to be a Nail technician/manicure teacher?
How do you go about being a nail technician, assuming you have been working in a salon for a number of years, and worked your way up from being a receptionist to nail technician, and then office manager... how would you then go about teaching the subject in a college or university? What qualifications would you need, any help is appreciated! Thanks : )How to be a Nail technician/manicure teacher?
When I was in Cosmetology school here in Texas there was a lady that was taking an instructors class at the same time I was there. She basically was like a student teacher. She helped the main instructor do everything, and clocked in and got college hours just like the rest of us there. The school I went to certified you in hair and nails. The lady that was going to school to be the instructor had already gotten her Cosmetology license years before. So I think that you have to be licensed thru your state for so many years, and have so many working years of experience. Then you can go to the instructor's school and get certified. I bet you can look up the details on your states Cosmetology Commission's website. Good Luck! How to be a Nail technician/manicure teacher?
you can go to a store where the ppl do manicures or to a high school cuz they hav hair and annistetics there and then ask them about it and adk them hoe they got the job and things like that.
You have to have your license, probably years of experience. You wouldn't teach at a college you would teach at a vocational school. Contact your local vocational school and get information about the requirements to teach.

How often do you get a manicure? Do you prefer to go to the salon or do you do it at home?
I go to a salon to treat myself every two weeks. Sure it is cheaper at home but I like how they do it far better than doing it myself.
It makes me feel good. How often do you get a manicure? Do you prefer to go to the salon or do you do it at home?
I try to get one done every two weeks and if I don't have the money at the time, I'll wait until I get the money to go back. I go to the salon for my manicure. How often do you get a manicure? Do you prefer to go to the salon or do you do it at home?
Do it at home...cheaper! If you don't know how or never have done for yourself, then ask a friend to do it for you...still cheaper!
i get it every 2 weeks. %26amp; i like it at the salon, except when the people are making fun of you in chinese. but its a lot easier, %26amp; a lot nicer looking.
i get a manicure every one or two weeks and i go to a nail place to get them done.
Well I think you should get a manicure about every 2 and a half weeks. I think this because I dont want you to damage your nails. Also I perfer going to the salon because they know what they are doing and you might do something wrong at home that may damage your nails forever. But if you dont want to spend that much money then you probably want to do it at home bacause its cheaper.

every 2 weeks and it has to be at a salon
I get manicure done every week and I do it in the Salon.
I go every other week to get my manicure. I typically get a pedicure about once a month or so. I do go to the salon.

Why do I nitpick every manicure and pedicure I get?
I just got my nails done and as soon as I get home I look at my nails %26amp; toes and think, thats not right, oh look at that, thats crooked, why is this smudged, that line's too thick, on and on and on. Am I the only one or does my manicurist do a crappy job?
p.s. I got french pink %26amp; white on my nails and toes. Why do I nitpick every manicure and pedicure I get?
it has to do with attention to detail, so it depends on the girls that do the job, I am the same way, I always feel that the nail polish is not fresh enough so it takes too long to dry, or the shape is not identical, they can't get it perfect no matter how hard they try, so we must invent a computer that does it flawlessly! Why do I nitpick every manicure and pedicure I get?
because your life is empty and that's all you can focus on
its not u it the Manicure you pay them to give you a perfect mani and pedi beacuse they are the profesional they should do a good job
Hahaha- I'm the same way! What's funny is that the small ';imperfections'; that I see are not anything that a person just glancing at my fingers/ toes would ever notice. As you know, if you've ever tried to do your own nails, it is really difficult to get them perfect. Unless your nails look really bad, it's probably not the fault of your manicurist.
It's just something women do.
deff a crappy manicurist
Well if your such an expert on doing nails why don't you do your own!

Girly question. How much does it usually cost to get a manicure and pedicure?
prices pleasee ?? [: i always get tips so i dont no lolGirly question. How much does it usually cost to get a manicure and pedicure?
25ish for french tip for toes and depending on your nails 30ishGirly question. How much does it usually cost to get a manicure and pedicure?
well - i have paid between $40-$75 for hand and feet care... it just depends if you want a 'buff and polish' or the deluxe package of it all with the paraffin-wax stuff or the acrylics etc..i suggest some home care (get your man on the job they have hands of magic sometimes!).. if your on a budget!
Hi it depends on what area you love going to. I know places where a manicure cost 300-400$ and tips are 250$. Designs cost 175$ for two. In more local areas it will be about 25$-30$. Emial me for locations and details. =] pinkdiamondz2@yahoo.com
I have no idea...but just make sure that whoever you are going to has a clean enviroment cause I saw a gurl on tyra who went and got a pedicure and from there she got a flesh eating diesiese
Probably 40.00 to 50.00 dollars if the prices were put together.
pedicure is usually between 18 to 20 dollars
i dont know about manicures
2-3 dollars for a fingernail and toenail clipper.
IT GOES FOR AROUND $55 A GOOD ONE. A BAD ONE FOR $30.
a crappy asain pedicure and manicure combo = 25
a good asain pedicure and manicure = 50
Well if your doing an mani and no fake nails then about 20-25 and a pedi is 30-35 usually.
Tip between 5-7 dollars.
It would depend on what state you live in.
I live in Michigan and at a small nail salon it is about 25 dollars for a pedicure and 13 for a manicure.
However if I were to go to a Hair salon the prices could just about double.
Hope this helps.
25 $ well around that

You can buy the guides at any drugstore or beauty supply. They even sell nail polish pens that are sometimes neater for French Manicures to use along with a guide.

How Much Do You Tip When You Get a French Manicure?
How much should you tip? Like, I dont wanna be cheap, but I dont want to over tip....what do you tip?
(normally I tip about $5)How Much Do You Tip When You Get a French Manicure?
18% of the total. How Much Do You Tip When You Get a French Manicure?
5$
I tip 7 for gel acrylics,so 5 is good for french tips.
Well if its $30 to get it done than yeah $5 is plenty.
i always tip five dollars on my fills so you are right on target.
Well, I always tip at least 20%, usually I'll throw in another dollar or two on top of that.
Usually I tip around $5. Sometimes more than or less than that considering on how well a job they did, how they acted, you know?
I tip $5 whether it's one-tone polish or french. That probably sounds bad, but you're already charged extra for the french anyway (generally speaking).
i leave about $3
five dollars is to much .It only cost 15 dollars normally for a french manicure so 5bucks to much. But hell if you have money to throw away and it makes you feel good i say do it.

When you get a manicure, what do you really like in the way of the service you get? What do you not like?
I enjoy a one on one experience. I like getting a hand massage and feeling as if you are here to please me the customer not just do your job. I do not like you talking every one else in the salon. Being rough with my hands and I like an expert job. I am not hard to deal with but if I ask for you to fix something (not twenty things) please just do it with a smile. I enjoy being pampered. And if i treat you well you should do the same. I'm not rude and I dislike rude manicurist. Customer service above all else. When you get a manicure, what do you really like in the way of the service you get? What do you not like?

It depends on where you are going. what part of illinois are you from or buy. I live near berwyn and the mall charges 35-40 depending on what day of the week you go to the mall. hope this helps. Also if you are getting a plain manicure with no nails and no art maybe 30
It depends where you go;
cheap asian sort of places about $50 total.
- But they arent very good, manicures are usually fair; but pedicures arent.
I think your better doing it at home yourself.
Expensive Spas can cost up to $120 for one pedicure.
manicures are atleast 30$ with accrillics and depending on what you get with them..
pedicures are about the same.
you might get an offer but i'd say about 45-50$
It depends. I'd say somewhere around 20 dollars if you get a cheap price, and when I looked on the internet it said 20-30 generally.
hey pedicures should cost no more than 25 and manicures are about 12. so never spend more than 40 for both!! GOOD LUCK
Together....about $35 maybe $40.
That depends on where you go!!
I know in Monterey Ca it was 45 for the set
and in Camp Lejeune NC its 35
About $25 bucks for each;)
here in seattle its $80
dont do it, or you will feel rich

What are some stores where i can buy a manicure/pedicure kit?
i want to start doing my nails and toe nails and start to make them look better and softer than they do now
in the set i want the hand/foot Massage lotion, short artificial nails, the tools,Hand cream,Cuticle remover, etcWhat are some stores where i can buy a manicure/pedicure kit?
My dear, go on line to buy what you're after.
I've had acrylic nails for 18 years and I would strongly recommend that you have your nails professionally done. They'll look better, and if you do them yourself, you may just wind up with a nail fungus. You don't want that, believe me, because your nail will turn green.
If you can't afford professionally done fakes, just keep your own nails neat and trimmed and polished. Also, do not, do not, do not, remove your cuticles. You need to have more information before you take matters into your own hands. (No pun intended.)What are some stores where i can buy a manicure/pedicure kit?

I got a French manicure today (on my real nails, not fake ones) and I want it to stay looking good for school?
How can I make sure the polish doesn't start to wear off after a couple of days? Any suggestions?I got a French manicure today (on my real nails, not fake ones) and I want it to stay looking good for school?
put on a top coat once every other day!
i love french manicuresI got a French manicure today (on my real nails, not fake ones) and I want it to stay looking good for school?
opi works really good put a coat of that on 1 time every single day and it will have ur nails looking amazing for how ever long u want it to
Yup, apply a top coat for sure and stay out of soapy water for sure and don't bump anything. It is really hard to keep a manicure nice if you do any chores.
for a couple of days it should be fine. if you are worried, put some clear coats of top nail polish on it and it will keep it strong. if it does chip, just go for touch ups. it will only cost a couple dollars, or none at all if they are nice.
add a layer of clear nail polish or a top coat every day to maintain it!!
just learn to do a french manicure yourself. its really not that hard. and you can fix it whenever it messes up. i usually do my french tips in 5 minutes or less and itll last for more than a week. or if you want to keep getting it professionally done, get a white nail polish and whenever it chips off just paint over it. use white out if you want.=)
good quality top coat (like OPI) every day.
put a coat of clear polish on yourself. the more coats you put on, the longer it will be on there
!!!
good luck

Does it bother you when you go get a manicure and the manicurist (Asian)is speaking to her coworkers?
While doing your nails they speak to each other, not in English, but in their native language. It doesn't bother me, but I know of alot of people that feel offended by it. I guess they think the manicurist is talking about them?Does it bother you when you go get a manicure and the manicurist (Asian)is speaking to her coworkers?
Yes, 'cause you wonder if they are talking about you, and I think it's rude. They should be focused on you.Does it bother you when you go get a manicure and the manicurist (Asian)is speaking to her coworkers?
yeah, and they usually are dirty too. thats why i stopped going to asian places, go to italian ones. they are a lot cleaner and they don't speak in their annoying native language
it used to. but now that i'm a licensed manicurist who's american and have all american co-workers, i know that a lot of their procedures were very unsanitary not to mention illegal...i sum it up as they are just rude people who find a way to quickly make money off of us because we don't take the time to know what proper procedure is and what isn't...on top of the fact that half of them are asking advice b/c they are nort licensed...how do 15 people work in a shop and only one license is displayed???
Ahhh! I hate it. They say something and then they burst out laughing. I wornder if they are talking about me! It is so rude!
I just think its rude, because it makes the customer excluded from what is going on and feel uncomfortable. Good customer service means making your customers feel at home and relaxed, and this doenst do this.
That is rude. Ask them to speak in English.
I think its rude, if you are in a facility were the majority of youre customers speak one language than you should respect that and speak that language. How would they like it if a friend and i went into there shop and spoke spanish the whole time.
OMG YES!!! i can just imagine what they're saying....';omg look at her nails! it looks like she's been digging in the mud! what's with these white girls! let them do their own nails!!'; gah i hate it! i almost asked one of them to stop talking in another language
Yes it makes me uncomfortable
IT does for me!!!!cuz one time they were doing mine they looked at me and laughed!!!!i was WHAT ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT!!!!!it drove me nuts cuz i still want to kno lol
well tht has happ 2 me a lot of times, n yea i sumtimes do feel tht they r talkin abt me( well sumtimes i hve actually found out tht they were talkin abt me!).....but its ok i mean JUS GET UR THING DONE N GET OUT 4M DER!
it bugs me!! If they are in the USA they should speak english!!!
I don't mind if they speak in their language, but sometimes it makes me feel uncomfortable %26amp;suspecious, and i wonder if they are talking about me.
Yeah it pisses me of...this is America....they need to learn English and then start using it. They can speak however they want when they are at home, but when they are at work they need to speak English. I don't feel that the US should accommodate to anyone. This is America, adapt to it or leave!!!
Yes, it's just kind of rude...I always feel like they are talking about me, because they look at me, say something and then laugh! Once I actually was with a friend who spoke their language (they didn't know she did) and she said that the lady was saying that I had fat feet! I never went back there again!
Yes it does, so i politely say,';I'm sorry I didn't understand that, what was that you said?'; and most of the time they will switch to english.
i don't mind, because i understand that they know that language better than others and they just feel more comfortable talking in their language. if i moved to china or korea, or any other contry, i would try to speak that native language, but i would speak english to anyone who knew english!
If it makes you feel uneasy don't go to them.
No, I just sit back and relax. At the end I ask them if they had a nice conversation in Mandarin. Usually, this get's them embarassed.
no it does not.
Not really, what bothers me is that I can hardly hear them when they speak to me!!...they speak very softly and the accent is sometimes not understandable
It mostly just pisses me off because this is the U.S. and if you can't speak english don't come here.
It used to bother me a lot, because I thought they were talking about me. Now I realize they have better things to do than discuss their clients all day.
When you talk to these people who are offended by it, give them this scenario...
Imagine that you are working in some sort of service job where you must interface with customers, but the customers speak an entirely different language from you. Your skills with their language are poor to non-existant, but you're very good at the service you provide. The only people who DO speak your language are other people you work with. What would your day at work be like? To whom would you speak? Would you just NOT speak all day??
I would just LOVE to know precisely why these people are offended by these women talking in the language they're most comfortable speaking. Have these offended parties ever considered trying to strike up a friendly conversation?? And why are they so narcisistic that they think these women are talking about them? And even if they are -- so what?
Sorry - the thought that anyone would be offended by that offends me.
Doncha just love the double standard? It's okay for some of you to ignore the person holding your hands, but it's not okay for them to talk to their coworkers in a language they feel most comfortable with?
I AGREE.
It pisses me off. Like they do not respect their customers enough to speak English. I HATE HATE HATE it. You are in Amercia, SPEAK ENGLISH!!! Expecially when you have AMERICAN CUSTOMERS paying for your services!!
yes, because it feels like they are talking about you
Well i have to admit it does make me feel a little aqward knowing that they could be talking about me.
only been once, as i prefer to do my own, didn't feel i was being talked about, but thought it a little rude not to focus on customer...
I just talk about them in English so they can understand me. I talk about how funny it is that I did not shower or pull the fungus out from under my big toe and how bad it must stink. Me friends just laugh and laugh...and then I don't tip.
Sometimes but it's all good. most times they are just asking business related questions. but if they are talking a whole lot it ruins your experience. it's supposed to be relaxing.

What do I need to make my own french manicure/pedicure?
I want to try making my own french manicure.. but what items do I need to accomplish this? Any recommendations? What do I need to make my own french manicure/pedicure?
I gave my cousin a french manicure the other day (which I had never tried before). I guessed that I would need white nail polish (made by Colorama), q-tips, and nail polish remover.
I painted along the ends of her nails, and once I finished doing all of them, I poured some nail polish remover in a cup and dipped a q-tip in it to polish them up if they were uneven or if she had polish on her finger.
I really liked the results! What do I need to make my own french manicure/pedicure?
The hand/eye coordination of a neurosurgeon! Don't use those little white sticker things; they always end up pulling off some of the polish when you remove them. My friend used to do her own, and she bought really strong nail polish remover (not sure where, maybe at a beauty supply store), and she would paint the white tip on roughly, and then dip a medium stiffness makeup brush in the strong remover, and straighten out the line of it. Then when that dried, she'd top it all with the nude color. She did it really well. I tried, but mine never looked as good as hers.
It's insanely hard to do it buy yourself, so I would suggest buying a Sally Hansen kit from the drugstore. It has those stickers that makes it a lot easier to draw the line.

Is it too taboo to have long french manicure nails for a man?
I was thinking of going to the salon to get my nails done. I know a lot of people would that that is strange for a man, but I just think long nails would be a fun change and would look nice and pretty. Anyway, Im not sure what to ask them when I get there, any advice? Is it too taboo to have long french manicure nails for a man?
They're your hands... but be prepared for a lot of grief from people. Also consider what you do, long nails are hard to deal with, especially if you are not used to them.
My father-in-law get manicures regularly. He just has them polish his nails and perhaps a clear coat for protection. Is it too taboo to have long french manicure nails for a man?
i work in a hair salon and is a guy who is straight(he say that)he do french pedicure after he go we laugh a lot of him,is nice to a man do manicure or pedicure but french...not is not nice
yes. for me at least.
Well if you want pretty then you can get away with it ,but no body else could.
Personally it would be kind of gross, I hate the one long nail guitarists often have creepy. You go a head if there are lots of guys doing it in your neighborhood then you will blend in, if not have a strong back bone you will need it. Men and women are different not androgynous just different.

Long nails for a guy?!? That's a little bit on the wierd side of things. Long nails are annoying anyways! Seriously, If I were you, I'd stick to short and easy nails. Especially considering the fact that you are indeed male.
Gross, dirty, and not attractive in any way.
A well manicured hand is fine - but forget the long, french part.
if you are gay...sure go for it...if u are straight...i'm afraid I know of no women who would find this attractive.
WHAT!!!!! YOU MUST BE FROM OUTERSPACE!!!facial body

How do you give your self a french manicure??
A good one.How do you give your self a french manicure??
I buy the white line stickers that you lay across your nail. Then you paint above the sticker in white, then when they dry take the sticker off. I usually get white on my skin or sometimes a little seeps under the sticker, so I dip a Q-tip in nail polish remover to take that off. Then when the white is completely dry I paint the whole nail in either a clear gloss or a tinted gloss. If I use a tinted gloss, then I wait till that dries and then cover the whole nail in a clear gloss, because your nails will look shiny and chip less if you do that. It takes me about 1/2 an hour to do the whole process, but they look like I went to a salon afterwards, I've had people ask where I got them done!!How do you give your self a french manicure??
For Prom my daughter bought hers at Wal-Mart. They turned out OK.
There are kits for this. They come with a stencil to get a uniform white curve on all nails. If you don't get this kit, you'll get lopsided white curves.
Find it at Target or Walmart etc.
Just get some scotch tape and put it across your nail as a tip guide. Paint that part white. Once it dries, take off the tape and apply 2-3 coats of clear polish. Then apply hang lotion.
White out.
Your best bet is to buy one of those French manicure kits from the beauty supply store.
1. Trim your nails to the desired shape (round or square). This is the toughest part! It may take a few tries before you get this right,
2. Apply the nail strip guides from the kit.
3. Paint the tips with desired color. Let dry.
4. Remove the nail strip and paint with bottom section with desired color. Pink a sheer color or a clear coat since you'll be painting over the tip.

How do u give ur self a french manicure?
wat is the best way? do u need really long nails?
i saw the rimmel nail polish sets for french manicures are they any good? How do u give ur self a french manicure?
You don't need super-long nails for a French manicure, but they should definitely be a little bit long, because French manicures look stupid on really short nails. I would avoid getting the kits because I've tried them and they always end up looking lame. Here's how the pros do it.
1) Start off with the white tips. That way if you mess up, you won't have just wasted time putting the basecoat on and everything. Take a white polish, shake it really well, and squeeze as much excess polish off the brush as you can before painting the tips white from about 3/4 of the way up the nail to the very tip. Use vertical strokes instead of horizontal so your brush can follow your nails' natural pattern. Just do one coat, then let it dry thoroughly before putting on another coat if you wish, but I think one coat looks best-less gloppy.
2) Take an orange stick with cotton wrapped around the skinny tip or a Q-tip and soak it in nail polish remover, making sure to squeeze off all the excess. Run it straight across the point on each nail where you began the white tip (3/4 of the way up) so the lines are straight. Let that dry for a minute before doing anything else.
3) Take a really sheer nude, beige, or light pink polish (I prefer nude, but lots of people like pink for French nails) and paint your whole nail on each finger just as you would with any other nail polish. Go right over the white tip with the polish, because it is so sheer that the tips will still show through brilliantly. Just make sure you have squeezed all the excess poplish off the brush so it goes on very sheer with no glops. Let that all dry for about 10 min.
4) Finish with a clear topcoat. Make absolute sure everything else is dry before you put the clear coat on.
Hope this helps!!How do u give ur self a french manicure?
There are a few different ways, depending on the style. But I'll answer your questions first:
1. There is no best way. Choose whichever way you like doing and that looks nice.
2. You don't need terribly long nails. The longer, the better it looks, but you can do them with any length. In general, you want the nail that extends beyond your nail bed (and looks white) to be a good length, as that's what will have the white tips, but if they're not especially long you can fake it a little and extend the white onto the nail bed.
3. Not sure, I've bought a french nail kid just recently but haven't tried yet.
As for the nails themselves, there are a few styles. You can have a pinkish coat on your nailbed and white tips, you can have just white tips, the white tips can be curved or straight across, and you could use entirely different colors (red base with black tips, for instance.)
Painting the tips comes first. A lot of people use stick on guides to they get an even curve; if you're doing straight across, you don't need that. Let them dry and remove the sticker, and then you're done (and add a coat of nail hardener over that to seal it), or you move onto the next step if you want the base pink coat.
To do the base coat, you take your second color and paint in everywhere besides the white. Let that dry, then add the top coat, and you're done.
You can expiriment with colors, patterns, etc until you find a way you really like.
first, buy a fleshy/pink/beige nailpolish, a white nailpolish, and a clear topcoat.
paint your nails normally with the beige one and let them dry. then take the white nailpolish, and try to get rid of the excess drip by wiping against the inside of the bottle. a curve along the tips of your nails is nice, but for a diy job, sometimes i just make a straight swift swoop across the top to make them white and look clean.
it may take a couple of self-manicures to get a steady hand and figure out your own technique.
(also, to make them look extra clean, make sure you file your nails across, push back your cuticles, use a base before applying, and a top coat when it's all done)

Try this, and no your nails don't have to be long. Just make sure to file/clip them the same length. Good luck.
Sephora has a french manicure pen! that is easy to use. Put on a clear base coat, a layer of nude polish and let dry in between each. Then draw the white tip with the pen, let dry. Another coat of nude polish, dry and finally your topcoat. That sounds like a lot, but it is okay as long as you are patient and let each coat dry. I give myself these manicures and people think my nails are artificial because they look so good.
They have kits at walmart and pretty much any of the kits that have the guide stickers work well. I have never tried the rimmel actually, but as long as it has the stickers that you place on your nail to guide you as to where to put the white then you should be fine! I dont think you need very long nails, the french manicure makes your nails look longer anyway!! Good luck and I know they'll turn out beautiful!
I think it involves a white flag and sheep being burned ...
you have to have steady hands.... and if your right handed be able to work good with your left hand when its time to do your right and vice versa... time... no interuptions... a calm environment... no distractions... and practice it takes time to master it.... the first time you do it yourself it looks like a 5 year old painted your nails lol, but over time everyone will ask you where do you get your nails done? Also they sell nail kits in Walmart or CVS that have the stickers you put over your nails to guide you... they may help you better
wat u do is that u go by the nails that u want and then put them on
then u paint yo nails with that manicure
unless you have good steady hands more power to you and do them yourself
unless your like me, go to the salon
first soak ur hands, and then lightly, softly dry them..then use the tool that pushes back cuticles , the cut them all the same height. then use a finger nail file maybe and even out the surface of the nail, then wash them again, gently, and dry...then polish clear, then the french white tip, and one more layer of clear on top of that.
if u really care about ur real nails, dont get acrylic nails put on, they jus leave ur nails brittle, ugly, and thin.
I'm not sure about the rimmel brand of french manicure, however you can buy a french manicure stick...it's white, and use it under the nail in order to give you the white tip, and follow up with a nude polish.
A steady hand, and patients, nose plug
that stuff smells so bad
There are lots of inexpensive kits available at most drug stores: look for the kits that have guides included and then be sure to wait for the nails to completely dry before removing the guides. I've used those kits (have no idea which brands--but all I've used turned out okay) and the nails looked fabulous. All the best to you!
You just do your nails like an arrogant coward.
i saw the rimmel nail polish sets for french manicures are they any good?
(also, to make them look extra clean, make sure you file your nails across, push back your cuticles, use a base before applying, and a top coat when it's all done)
http://www.sallyhansen.com/french_manicu鈥?/a>
Try this, and no your nails don't have to be long.

What type of manicure or pedicure should i get...i want to look cute?
french manicure....airbrushed? how long do my toenails need to be?What type of manicure or pedicure should i get...i want to look cute?
Defiantly get a Spa Pedicure they are wonderful! French on your toenails would look great. It really doesn't matter how long your toenails are... they can paint them like that at any length.

there is a difference between french nails and americans nails.
french are striaght white tips and american is like a smile.
i am blessed with long nail bed, so even if my nails are short i am still able to do french manicure.
i ever did a french but each tip is different colour.
pink, green, yellow, purple, blue. i like it very much.
i don't reccomend acrylic nails because i personally tried once. after i soak off it became very weak and brittle.
u can to kinokuniya and look for those japanese magazines, they have lots of french nail art designs.eye color

Do women like a man that waxes his eye brows and gets a manicure?
or one that has hair on his nuts?Do women like a man that waxes his eye brows and gets a manicure?
No waxing/manicure and trimmed nut hair is my preference:)Do women like a man that waxes his eye brows and gets a manicure?
That would be a first if Mr. Kitty ever had his eyebrows waxed and a manicure to boot.. Well he does have a few hairs on his nuts for sure.. but if ever did the above things i would be worried..He's too old .. forgot that.. He does good to pluck some wild hairs out and use my kitchen knife to clean his nails.Nope to your question i cant handle that ....
leave the hair alone as long as u don't have a unibrow we are fine
hairy balls just keep it trim so i'm not getting a big hair ball in mouth
this is a no no http://www.markallen.com/grotesque/image…
She might like him, and hey that's all good and well and all. The problem, though, is that he is more into the pillow biting fruit basket sitting in the next chair getting HIS manicure.
From a man's perspection, I don't know what woman like.
But no eyebrows, ewww, girling your hands, ewwww, nuthair, personal.
Either you are paranoid, or gay.
Yes, I like it. Cowbell waxes and gets manicures because he knows I like it.
there is nothing wrong with a man that takes care of himself as long as it dose not make him look really feminine. Hairy nuts are gross sorry they just are!
Well it all depends on how it looks afterwards cuz sometimes it can look 2 feminine and be a turn off.
leave the freaking hair please; I'll well, you know.
leave the freaking eyebrows please
manicures good gawd man.
I like Libras.
I prefer trimmed nut hair. I hate getting crotch noodles in my teeth.
edit: Thanks, Amy, for such and effective appetite supressant.
A hairless bag would be like doing it with a 12 year old. I have pure 70's bush whacker myself.
Women like a man who licks his eyebrows. Scrotum waxing is optional.
I think most women are like you and like hairy nuts.
Neither...?
y.
The first is very flamboyant and could be mistaken for gay, and the second is just kinda nasty
Manicure, for sure. I like a ';clean and well taken hand'; to touch my .....hair ?
I don't like bushy eyebrows and I like clean nails but the other doesn't matter.
I am a libra who waxes and wanes
As long as he still looks masculine. No preference on the nuts.
No not on the eye wax but I don't care if they get a manicure
no i like a real man not a girlie man
Clean hands with filed nails is enough. Other than that, I would think you're a big sissy girl.
no to the 1st
an yes to the 2nd...

the second option
Other men like that kind of man.
I like a regular guy.
No!! Unless u have a uni brow
I'm a bit put off by too much manscaping.
No, I like hairy guys.

Black tips on a french manicure?
I am thinking about getting this done. Maybe with like clear polish, and silver glitter. Or just plain black tips. Not sure. I know it is really dramatic. I`m not worried about that. I am worried that people will think it looks gross or something. I don`t care if they think it looks too goth/punk/emo or whatever. i`m not worried about that. anyways i want to know what you think about it. even if i get answers that i don`t like, i might still do it lol but i am curious.Black tips on a french manicure?
i think you should go for it though, what do you have to lose.. who cares what people think really, if they have a nasty opinion of you JUST cause of your nail color selection, then you wouldnt want them in your life anyways..
go for it girl, be bold
i think anything can look good if the person wearing it or doing it has the right attitude.
: )Black tips on a french manicure?
i think they look pretty cool. i've seen people with clear base and then black tips. or clear base and black tips and a thin line where the black meets the clear.
thats cute
it looks really cute! i do it every two weeks. and its even cuter if you do black tips with silver glitter polish separating the pink[natural] and the black
It's all the same to me. I'd actually go for the manicure that looks like domino tiles like in Fergie's ';Fergelious'; video.
Black tips? Go play in the dirt for a bit. You'll get the same look and at a fraction of the cost.
Sorry, it sounds gross to me!
I was wondering the same thing so if you get it done will you please send me a picture of them?? I saw them in a magazine and fell in love! But I defiantly think that you should do it!
I love it! You should get them white up to the line where the tips start and then get the tips black with a fine line of silver glitter between the two colors at the beginning of the tip line. Do it if you don't like it....repaint them!
I've seen a lady with a black french manicure. It had a pretty looking fancy gold design on it. It looked nice. I say try it: there is nothing wrong with trying something new. Dare to be different.
I've done it a few times for change.Go ahead and try it!Either you like it or you don't.They're your nails not your friends. When I tried it my friends thought it was really cool!

Have had this before and it looks awesome, not gross. Have fun if you hate it you can always get it redone
I think it will look like you have dirty nails from far away.
OMG, this is sooo cute! I'm obessed with making the french manicure cooler.
I love it when there is a line of silver or clear glitter seperating the color. Like right underneath it.
Trust me, I live in Japan and it's sooo trendy here!
But don't just stop with black, try purple and perhaps bright pink...something unexpected.
ROCK IT!
yuk

I love this. It would look awesome with a silver design starting at the middle of the nail and going towards the black tip. Great choice!

I don't think so. The gratuity is based on service and only the person who gets the service can determine what type of tip they would like to leave. Sounds like they are just trying to make an extra buck without the customer service

It will look fine. A lot of people do a french manicure and a regular pedicure. I hope I helped. =DWould it be weird if I have a french manicure and regular pedicure?
It wouldn't be weird at all. Having a french manicure on your hands is classy. I sometimes like to do that and then have a pinkish color on my toes.
No I think is it weirder to have matching frenchs. Too matchy matchy. I like nails in a nice clean french and toes in super bright funky colours! That is best in my opinion
why would that be weird i do that all the time
no not at all. everyone does that all the time.
both french would look better but there your nails lol=]
No. That's what I've done
no, i've done it before it looks fine

What is the best way NOT to lose a manicure while washing dishes or hair?
I have french tips...What is the best way NOT to lose a manicure while washing dishes or hair?
Well if you don't wanna wear gloves. try putting a top coat and sealing it.. like brush across the tip of your nail.
The other way is: wearing gloves. Get those medical gloves. They are great. What is the best way NOT to lose a manicure while washing dishes or hair?
I would wear latex gloves while doing dishes. Mr Clean has some really good but cheap ones.
Use rubber gloves for both jobs.
Having someone else do them for you!eye color

How do I get my man to do manicure, pedi and facial?
I want him to agree to do these things with me...he doesnt because he thinks its girly and all..but for me its staying healthy and clean ..help plzHow do I get my man to do manicure, pedi and facial?
Many guys do these things and actually became regulars at the beauty parlours. So what!!! They wanna portray a well kept image and there is nothing wrong with that. I hate seeing guys who have their nails filled with dirt and their toes looking like they have been dancing in the backdam. Facials are also hygienic, the same as washing your face in the nights. Only men insecure about themselves make a big deal about these things. How do I get my man to do manicure, pedi and facial?
OooooOO,, yea,, it can be tough to ask a manly-man to do something that feminine. Tell him that all the guys are doing it, and dont let him talk to any guys after you tell him that.
Or,, just bribe him.
Wow! I would love having my wife do that for me, I think I'll suggest it to her. Start with giving him a shampoo. He shouldn't object to something like that, then work your way into a facial. He'll be too relaxed by then to balk. Then move to his hands. The feet might be tricky. I personally don't like anyone touching my feet. By the time you're finished with him though, he might be putty in your hands...and the bj wasn't such a bad suggestion either, Country Boy.
Advise him that many men do get these things done. If he does not believe, then ask him to go to the shop and ask the workers there. Also, it wouldn't be bad if you enticed him with a reward such as a bj.
What does all this stuff have to go with being ';healthy and clean';? If he takes showers he's clean, and nobody needs a manicure or any of this other stuff to be healthy.
He's made his feelings clear. Stop nagging him. If you don't want a guy who is unwilling to be pimped up, dump him and find some metrosexual who actually likes this stuff.
why do girls want guys to do it

there really is not way to get a str8 guy to do something that is not considered masculine by the commen census. just ask him to do it as something special u two can do together every now and then.
He is a man....not a woman....get some gay friends and have them do it instead....leave your man alone and let him be a man. Feminizing your man will only make him resent you in the long run.

What products make a soft white, natural american manicure?
I purchased the ';American Manicure Original Formula'; kit and I am not crazy for the colors. The white tip is pretty but I think too sheer. I would like a little more white but not the starch white of a french. I like my nail bed to be natural looking also. What products make a soft white, natural american manicure?
Even tho im a guy answering this lol i asked my girlfriend lol so this is what she said
- Non-acetone based polish remover
- Cotton Balls
- Basic manicure tools, such as clippers, a file, and nail scissors
- A light pink, beige, or neutral polish color
- An opaque or soft white polish color
- Manicure adhesive strips or stencil to paint your white tips
- Clear top coat to add protection to your manicure
First, make sure your nails are thoroughly cleansed and free of any previous polish. Remove any hangnails using nail scissors and follow-up by filing your nails to your desired length and shape. Next, apply a thin coat of your base color evenly and allow to dry. Then using your adhesive strips or stencil, paint your tips white and be sure they are dry before removing the strips or stencil. Paint a thin coat of clear polish over the entire nail and allow to dry. You should now have a beautiful American manicure!
Whether you choose to have your American manicure done by a professional or you do it yourself, you can never go wrong with this soft and simple look!

Please i need manicure help do i need a uv light to set the gel?
or will it just set by it self? also can i use any uv globe like from the clubs ?Please i need manicure help do i need a uv light to set the gel?
Yes. for traditional gels you need a UV lamp. And no, the one you mentioned won't work.
Yes, there are some gels which do not require a lamp, but they are low quality junk which I would not recommend to even my worst enemy!
BTW, both acrylic and gel nails are not something one should be doing at home without having attended a formal training program first. Its not as easy, or as simple as it may look. But whatever. They're your nails. But remember that once the UV gel has been cured, its permanent, and it will not come off by soaking it in acetone.
Leave this kind of stuff to the pros to do for you...Please i need manicure help do i need a uv light to set the gel?
It depends on the gel system you use. Some are UV cure, some are 2 part systems that need no UV light.
Hi, you can get a full kit from

Why does my manicure always end up ';bubbling'; for lack of a better word?
Even when it's brand new polish, base and topcoat it bubbles. I don't shake the polish excessively. It never happens when I get a professional manicure. Why does my manicure always end up ';bubbling'; for lack of a better word?
your nails have to be clean, with no kind of residue on them (eg) oil, hand cream, etc...If you've just taken off your nailpolish, give your hands a little scrub..
As well, heat will make your polish bubble. I know my sister does her nails outside...that would do it...
Try to have enough polish on the brush to do one stroke, not stop half way down the nail...that makes bumps too. 3 straight strokes down each nail, and let each coat dry thoroughly, before applying second coat...
Im not a cosmetician or anything like that...I just like doing my nails a lot...Why does my manicure always end up ';bubbling'; for lack of a better word?
you must not be waiting long enough inbetween coats.
I don't know. For lack of a better word.
bubbling actually isn't caused by the shaking your nail polish bottle or being cheap! It's from heat! When you coat your nails...you notice that they don't have any bubbles. This eliminates the thought that the bubble on you NAILS are caused by shaking polish. Also cheap nail polish might be the cause but that's also unlikely you can get polish that doesn't bubble at the dollar store. Don't do you nails in the sun! Keep um cool until they dry!
lousy job
Do you shake it all all? I always roll my polishes.
Your not supposed to shake it at all, your supposed to roll it between your hands, if you do this and it still bubbles then it's just cheap.
It's cheap nail polish.
Your shaking it too hard!
Even though you think your not.
Gently rub it back and forth in your hands.
If this isnt the prob, then thats pretty cheap polish!eye color

Do you have to file your nails a certain way when doing a french manicure?
Do you file them so they are curved or squared??Do you have to file your nails a certain way when doing a french manicure?
No, it does not matter which you use. It is totally up to you.Do you have to file your nails a certain way when doing a french manicure?
It doesn't matter with either, but go the same direction, otherwise it's easier for the nail to break/split because you wear down the tip of it. Yeah, you can file them curved of squared, but squared makes them look more fake, and curved makes them just look mad nice.
Hope I helped!
I don't think it really matters, but I've talked to some manicurists and they've said it's better to file your nails squared.
actually
the correct or most popular way to do french manicures
is to keep the nail square
The best look is to file the free edge so that it is the same shape as the cuticle area.
usually they're filed squarish with partly rounded corners
Yes. You ave to file them so that they are curved.

Can I do black nail polish/manicure without looking Gothic?
I saw this middle aged lady in the grocery store the other day wearing a pretty black outfit with pretty short black nails to match her outfit. I didn't think she looked scary or Gothic, but I'm afraid if I do the same I'll look crazy or Gothic or scary or strange?
Opinions about getting a manicure with black nail polish? Can I do black nail polish/manicure without looking Gothic?
I love dark nails and I'm def not goth, I wouldn't normally go for black though..how about a midnight blue or a dark purple??Can I do black nail polish/manicure without looking Gothic?
Go to a professional manicurist, don't do it at home with a Sharpie pen or whatever. If anything, get a black nail colour with a hint of purple or blue or marroon, it's much nicer! In FASHION (Canadian magazine) I read that grey is a pretty hot colour for nails this fall, so you can try a shimmery YSL grey if you don't like black that much.
It doesn't really matter about what colours you wear: I saw a pretty blonde wearing a black tunic dress, black leggings, and marroon-tinted black nails, but she still looked really fashionable (she wore a peach scarf, a grey handbag and embellished flats)...it's how you wear it!
the only way u can pull that off w/out looking gothic is if u have the tips of the manicure done black. and the rest white. i have this friend that has that done, and shes the kind of grl that nos wats in style. so i would do only the tips of the manicure black. nothing else. that way u wont look scary or gothic. trust me.
You can totally do black. Just make sure your nails are short and the black you choose is shiny, not matte. Also,if you're worried about looking goth or whatever, you can look for a black that has some shimmer to it or put a shimmery clear coat over it instead of a plain top coat.
I actually have two beautiful girls that wear it. It looks good, Gothic is more about what you wear and your hair. Example: If you had on a pair of jeans with a nice top and black nail polish...........Nobody would think Gothic. If you wear the 10 layers of clothes that do not fit with pink, purple hair..............we all think gothic. Black nail polish is nice if it is done tastefully..............
i wear black nail polish, and im pretty sure i dont look gothic. I just make sure my outfit im wearing has a limited amount of black in it, and dont wear too much black eye makeup etc
Black Nail Polish is a teenager thing.
Dark red, or Marroon.
Or a very dark purple.
Not black.
Dont go black
i LOVE gettin my french mannys with black tips...super cute...

theres this stuff that i actually just bought yesterday at walgreens. its called incoco and its just these little strips you put on your nails and they look perfect! it took me a little while to get the hang of it but after i did it worked out well.
but if you just want to use normal nail polish, try these steps:
1. use an old toothbrush and soap to scrub your nails on top and under them to get any dirt out.
2. soak your hands in milk for a couple of minutes until theyre soft.
3. use cuticle stick or if you dont have one of those use a toothpick to push back your cuticles.
4. trim your nails if you need to.
5. file your nails to the shape you want.
6. buff your nails until theyre smooth.
7. apply the base coat (optional), then the color, and then the top coat (optional as well).
8.if you want, once your nails are dry, you can put on a heavy moisturizer before you go to bed and put moisturizing gloves on over that.
hope this helps!
1. put hand in hot water with milk (gets rid of dead skin) for 5 min
2. push down cuticles with olive oil (don't pick, will cause infection)
3. put on hand lotion
3. put clear base coat on nails
4. if u want a french manicure put tape on the edges of ur nails to create a straight line
5. paint nails
6. put another clear coat of nail polish after ur nails dry
7. Done!
1. even if you do not have nail polish on put nail polish remover on your nails it helps take of the oil your finger nails produce that will make your nail polish faster
2. paint your nails the color that you picked

theres this stuff that i actually just bought yesterday at walgreens. its called incoco and its just these little strips you put on your nails and they look perfect! it took me a little while to get the hang of it but after i did it worked out well.
but if you just want to use normal nail polish, try these steps:
1. use an old toothbrush and soap to scrub your nails on top and under them to get any dirt out.
2. soak your hands in milk for a couple of minutes until theyre soft.
3. use cuticle stick or if you dont have one of those use a toothpick to push back your cuticles.
4. trim your nails if you need to.
5. file your nails to the shape you want.
6. buff your nails until theyre smooth.
7. apply the base coat (optional), then the color, and then the top coat (optional as well).
3. put a clear over coat that will help the nail polish stay on longer

I live in calgary alberta, and I want to get a french manicure before school starts. How much would it cost, and where's the best place to get it done? thanks, %26lt;3Where can I get a french manicure in calgary?
any nail place will do a french, just don't go to a spa or a salon cause it'll be more expensive.
in vancouver, you can get a pedi/mani for 40-45$. French manis are generally around 25$ (they're usually about 5$ more than regular manis)

:-)Any tips on how i can make my nails grow long fast strong and thick? Also at home manicure tips?
vitaminsAny tips on how i can make my nails grow long fast strong and thick? Also at home manicure tips?
I've always heard that for some reason, prenatal vitamins make nails grow really fast and strong. I'm not sure what makes them different from a regular multivitamin but everyone I know who's been pregnant has said the prenatal vitamins made their nails grow super fast.
As far as home manicures go, just make sure all the instruments you use are clean and take excellent care of your cuticles.
They have some garlic clear nail polish you can try. And as far as a great manicure try soaking your fingers in warm water with soap. That should give you a great manicure and your nails will feel soft and clean.
Nail Care Tips:
篓 A good time to do your manicure is after you have taken a shower, bath or after washing the dishes. This is because these activities remove the dirt from under the nail.
篓 Nail polish thinner can be used to thin out nail polish that has become too thick. Keep the polish in the refrigerator to make it last longer.
篓 Try not to use nail polish remover more than once a week. Nail polish remover causes the nails to dry out. Dry nails crack and split more easily than nails that are well hydrated (well-moisturized).
篓 A top coat or sealer is a liquid that is applied over the nail polish. Any clear nail polish can be used as a top coat or sealer. This will minimize chipping or cracking of the nail. On natural nails, a clear coat can be used every day for seven days to give the nail protection and keep the moisture in.
篓 After washing your hands, apply a cream or lotion. Hands and nails tend to get dried out from soaps and cleansers. You should try to keep your hands and cuticles well lubricated, with a moisturizer such as Aquaphor, Moisturel, Vaseline. You should use an oil or moisturizer at bedtime every night.
篓 Sometimes nail polish, dirt and bacteria can stain the nails. This can be removed by using a Q-tip or an orangewood stick with a cotton tip. Soak the cotton in 10 parts water mixed with 1 part bleach, then rub the nail where the stain is. This will remove most stains from the nails. Scrub under the nails with a nail brush or toothbrush with soap or bleach solution to remove stains under the nails.
Weekly Nail Care (15-20 minutes each week):
1. Remove any old nail polish. To remove the old polish, first moisten cotton with nail polish remover and press over the nail for a few seconds to soften the polish. Then with a firm movement, bring the cotton from the base of the nail to the tip. Repeat this process until all of the polish is gone.
2. Shape the nail, using a file or emery board. File each nail tip from corner to center; do not file in a see-saw motion with the emery board because doing so can cause ridges in the nail and nail splitting.
3. Soak the hands in warm, soapy water for a few minutes to remove dirt. Clean under free edge of nail with orangewood stick.
4. The cuticle is the skin that grows from the finger onto the base of the nail (nail root). We recommend that the cuticle not be pushed back. Leaving the cuticle intact helps to prevent infection of the nail growing tissue.
5. Now apply clear nail polish. There is no reason to waste money on several different kinds of clear polishes such as a ridgefiller, base coat, top coat or nail strengthener. They all do about the same job. After the clear polish dries, apply a color polish of your choice if you wish. Let dry. You may then reapply the clear polish as a top coat. This will help strengthen the nail and prevent chipping of the nail polish.
6. Finally, apply a moisturizing cream or lotion to the hands and cuticles. This will help prevent splitting of the nails.
Umm..there is this product sold at most drugstores (ie RiteAid, Walgreens, CVS, Eckard) thats called Nutra Nail. Its supposed to help brittle nails grow with continuted use. It's kinda like a nail polish but I think with nail growing ';vitamins'; in it. It doesnt cost more than $5 and it comes in either a green or red package near the Manicure section. I work at Walgreens...since like 2000...so thats why I know so much about it. Hope this helps!
Get yourself some Dr Lewinn's Revitanail. It's fabulous.
eat and drink calcium rich food or take calcium tablets.
My grandma used to be a manicurist and she says creams and such are overrated. She says green veggies are the best way to make your nails grow in strong. Drink milk too. It's worked for me and her former customers :)

How can I make my manicure the most beautiful ?
Please give me some ideas about solving that problem !How can I make my manicure the most beautiful ?
1. file your nails and get them even, and at a good length..not too long.
2. paint on a clear coat
3. paint on your color.- start with one strip down the middle of your nail and then do another strip on each side.
4. paint on another clear top coat.
5. wait about 2 minutes, then put your fingers under cold water- it helps them dry faster.
**if your manicure chips heres an easy fix:
on the spot where the nail polish is gone, take the brush and just dot it, don't paint it like you did before. use the bottom of the brush to dot it. then let it dry and do another coat of the color to even it out.How can I make my manicure the most beautiful ?
do it carefully and properly
The Essential Tools
Nail clipper Fine-grit nail file (splurge on a big file -- forget those measly emery boards) Wooden cuticle stick Cuticle oil Three-sided nail buffer
The Low-Maintenance Manicure
The great thing about this routine is that you only need to do it once every two weeks -- and it takes about 10 minutes, from start to finish!
Step 1: Prep cuticles. Swipe a bit of cuticle oil across the base of each nail, being sure to cover the entire cuticle. The oil will condition your cuticle and nail, and soften the cuticle so it's easier to push back. More on that later.
Step 2: Trim nails. Use your nail clipper to gently trim your nails to a length you like (anything over 1/4 inch past your fingertip is too long). Try to cut your nails straight across; doing so will allow you to custom-shape them with your file.
Step 3: File nails. Choose a shape you like, either square or oval. Manicure experts suggest that your nail tip's shape should mirror the curve of your cuticle (that is, if your cuticles go straight across your nail bed, your tip should be squared; if your cuticles are softly rounded, your tip should be oval). But let your style preference be your primary guide. Don't worry about filing nails in one direction only; do, however, avoid filing into the sides of your nails, which will make them weak and prone to breaking.
Step 4: Push back cuticles. By now the cuticle oil you applied earlier will have softened your cuticles, which makes them ready to be pushed back. (Why push them back, you ask? Because by removing any cuticle skin clinging to the nail, your nail naturally looks longer and more elegant.) To push back cuticles, place the wooden stick flat against your nail and gently push toward your finger. The key word here is gentle, as pushing too hard can cause trauma to your nail or pull the cuticle away from the nail plate, opening it to infection. If your cuticle skin is stubborn, don't fight it; leave it for your next manicure.
Step 5: Buff away. For women who don't have the time or patience to polish, buffing is the perfect fix. Begin by swiping the roughest side of your buffer across each nail; this smoothes away ridges and discoloration. Next, take the second roughest surface, and swipe it over each nail. This further smoothes any roughness left behind by the first surface. Finally, swipe the smooth side over each nail until it shines.
Step 6: Wash hands, and voila! You've got great nails!
Finally, don't leave polish on the nails for more than five days, as it has quite a drying effect on the nails.
Here are some more tips!
Nothing ruins the look of your hands like uneven nails, so trim super-long and jagged ends with a nail clipper.
A file shapes nails and fine-tunes the work of the clipper. Look for one made from ground crystal, which has a finer grit than an emery board or metal file.
Buffing smoothes the nail surface and creates intense shine, making it an essential part of the perfect manicure.
Moisturized nails are less likely to break, so hydrate yours with cuticle oil. Your hands will look prettier, too. It's similar to the brightening effect that lipstick has for the face; cuticle oil does the same thing for your nails.
Pushing back the cuticles exposes more of the nails, making them look longer. Choose from metal, plastic, or wooden sticks (which should have cotton-covered tips). Wrapping the tip prevents cutting the tissue surrounding the nail.
Even at-home tools need to be kept clean. Mild sanitizers don't contain the same powerful ingredients used by salons, but they will keep your tools pristine between manicures.
Hope that this helps!

Can you get a manicure that doesn't leave you with shiny or glossy nails?
I've bitten my nails, badly, for about 30 years. Now I'm a guy with nails but not much idea how to take care of them...and I want to keep them. I went with my sister last week, got a manicure, and liked it. It'll help me keep my nails, but they put a shiny clear polish on them. Is there a dull-type polish I can ask for?Can you get a manicure that doesn't leave you with shiny or glossy nails?
You don't need polish and I can't believe they put polish on you. You can have your nails buffed. This is done with a buffing cream and or special nail buffing brick. This will take out the ridges and make a smooth finish to your nails. The final step is a special techniques called shine buff which will permanently leave your nails shiny but WITHOUT nail polish. If you don't want this ask the tech not to buff them to a shine. This is a very old technique still used by PROfessional Nail Techs today. THis is a very health way to do your nails because the buffing stimulates the nail bed and brings blood to the nail surface which feeds the nail with nutrients. Also.....TIP, keep your cuticles soft and plyable by using cream or oil, oil like vitamin e or even ask your tech for a good cuticle treatment you can do at home. Pssst...Olive oil is excellent. :)Can you get a manicure that doesn't leave you with shiny or glossy nails?
Yes, there's a type of nail polish that removes all of the shiny glossiness of the manicure and give the nails a matte finish.
OPI is a brand of nail polish that makes a matte finish nail polish. Just ask the person doing the manicure to give you a coat of it. They should know what you mean.
Tell the manicurist that you don't want any polish.
Yes, dip your finger in tuna and then stick your hands in a bag of cats.
Yes, you just simply say, ';No polish for me please.';
tell them you don't need polish!!! or ask for a dull polish...

Why does my manicure last longer when I do it myself than when I get it done at a salon?
Does anyone else have this experience? Thanks! Why does my manicure last longer when I do it myself than when I get it done at a salon?
The above answerer is correct that you do more layers and take your time at home, and plus think about it; if they do less layers, you have to come back sooner and spend more money at their salon. They want your money, so unless you want acrylics or gels, do your own and save your money for something else. All kids of illnesses can come from inexpensive, dirty salons such as nail mold and fungal infections anyway. If you do go to salons, do your research first. Why does my manicure last longer when I do it myself than when I get it done at a salon?
i dont. but they probably buy the ';best'; products on the first day, and when they run out they just refill them with some cheap stuff.
yes it happens to me to i think it is due to the fact that they don't do as many layers as we do at home also a lot of them thin out the nail polish to make it last longer

My nails break! it is terrible. I had a manicure and I try to take good care of them?
I had a manicure and my nails were just out of this world, I am like so in love, girlie and pretty. But in the last few days I had two of them break. I loved seeing them rounded and fem. Now it looks like a cow chewed them off! Yuck!My nails break! it is terrible. I had a manicure and I try to take good care of them?
Use a nail strengthener Revita Nails, many people I know used it and I have to say all of them would have great feedbacks about it.
Also ask them to buff lightly on the top of your nails and not to much. This can thin and weaken your nails.
Also they should be using natural nail filer.
Most salon buff to much or use the acrylic nail filer and that will cause your nails to break. My nails break! it is terrible. I had a manicure and I try to take good care of them?
There are special nail polishes in any local CVS that are designed to straighten nails. All you have to do next time you get a mani is either bring this polish with you or ask about their nail strengthening polishes. They can put this polish as a base coat, and then a normal color on top. Hope this helps =D
just be careful what you do. like...don't type on the keyboard, don't play sports, (though sports are amusing ^^) and don't get into fights. (lol)
Try using Dr Lewinn stuff. I don't have the same problem but I know someone who did. She started using nail hardener from Dr Lewinn (it's a brand) and now her nails are really strong and never break.
My mother swears by taking vitaming/mineral Biotin. My sister swears by eating peanut butter.
drink more milk or eat more yogurt... get more calcium somehow. That'll help your nails grow in stronger.
calcium and use some of that protecting coat stuff from sally hanssen
