How can I make a manicure really last beyond it's expiration date?

Either the nailpolish starts to chip off or...How can I make a manicure really last beyond it's expiration date?
Make sure your hands and nails are really clean before you start, and make sure there's no residue from a previous mani. Also, make sure your nails are short or medium length. If you really take pride in long nails and only need the polish to last for one special occasion, that's fine. But manicures make your nails look great no matter what length they are, so they might as well be a reasonable size, because extremely long nails will chip faster. Always use a base coat and top coat! And it's important to let dry completely before each coat. Do it this way: base coat, let dry, color, let dry, second coat of color, let dry, top coat, let dry. This doesn't apply to all polishes, but super-quick drying tends not to stick as well, so use a good-quality polish that doesn't dry to quickly. Last, be careful with your nails. You really can't expect a manicure to last after you've been working on a major project in woodshop or pulled weeds with bare hands. If you wash your hair while you have a manicure applied, use the pads of your fingers to scrub your scalp, not your fingertips. Best of luck to you and your manicures~How can I make a manicure really last beyond it's expiration date?
If you have artificial nails, then try having the salon use gel...with it, they can put the color on, then gel on TOP of the color too and the color does NOT chip or fade at all.

If you have real nails, then little things like using rubber gloves when washing dishes, don't use your nails to scratch or open something. Also, keep applying a top coat to your polish to keep the polished sealed in.
Try these tips.

1.Don't dip your hands in water for long periods. If you must handwash, use gloves.

2.Use a clear nail polish on your nails before you go to bed. It acts as a seal.

3.When you paint your nails make sure you put some nail polish at the tip and just underneath. It will last longer.

4. If you can afford it buy from the good ranges like loreal (Designers are out except you've got loads of cash and want to blow it). It is worth the extra penny. cheap don't last long. they are good for one or two days, emergencies only.

5. Don't open can drinks with your nails.

Hope this list helps.
